Current weather at RPR

Live conditions via OpenWeatherMap. Raipur sits on the Chhattisgarh plateau at about 317 m. April–June is genuinely hot, often above 42°C, and the monsoon runs June to September. Winter mornings can bring fog that delays early departures.
Terminal
One terminal, and it’s a good one
Raipur has a single integrated terminal at Mana, opened in 2012 — roughly 20,000 m², with two aerobridges, 15 check-in counters and five boarding gates. It was named the best airport in its category at the National Tourism Awards, and it still holds up: modern, uncrowded and easy to move through.
Raipur is effectively Chhattisgarh’s only commercial airport. If you’re going anywhere in the state — Bilaspur, Jagdalpur, Bastar, Sirpur — you’re almost certainly landing here first and then driving, sometimes for many hours.
Two aerobridges, modern baggage handling and a spacious security hold area. A 1.1 MW solar plant commissioned in 2017 supplies a chunk of its power.
The airport is not 24/7. It opens around the flight schedule, so don’t plan to arrive many hours early or wait overnight in the terminal.
Delhi is the dominant route, with Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Bhubaneswar all served daily, plus Chennai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Indore and Goa.
Business traffic drives the schedule — Chhattisgarh’s steel, coal and power industries mean weekday peaks and quieter weekends.
Raipur holds international status but regular scheduled international flights are limited, largely charters.
Assume you’ll connect through Delhi, Mumbai or Hyderabad for anything international. Don’t book on the strength of the word “International” in an airport’s name.
Route networks change with the schedule season. Confirm your flight on the airline’s own app before travelling.
Flying out
Departures
Two hours before a domestic departure is comfortable here. Raipur is one of the less stressful Indian airports to fly from — the terminal is generously sized for its traffic, and queues rarely get out of hand outside the morning business peak.
Before security
- Entry: a printed or mobile boarding pass and photo ID are checked at the terminal doors.
- Check-in typically closes 45 minutes before domestic departures.
- Coming from elsewhere in Chhattisgarh? The drive is the variable — Bilaspur is ~2.5 hours, Jagdalpur 6–7. Plan around the road, not the airport.
Timing traps
- The early-morning bank pushes the Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru departures out together — that’s when the terminal is busiest.
- Winter fog can delay first departures in December and January.
- Because the airport isn’t open around the clock, a very early arrival may mean waiting outside.
Landing here
Arrivals
Domestic arrivals go straight to baggage reclaim and out. You’re roughly 15 km from Raipur city and only about 10 km from Nava Raipur, the planned capital where much of the government and corporate activity now sits.
In the arrivals hall
- Prepaid taxi counter in arrivals gives regulated fares — the easy default.
- App cabs, local taxis and city buses all serve the airport.
- ATMs and basic facilities available; free Wi-Fi with no registration required.
Meeting someone?
- The forecourt is modern and uncongested — pickups are simple here compared with older Indian airports.
- Heading to Nava Raipur? It’s closer than the old city, so say which you want when booking a cab.
- For long onward drives into Bastar, arrange a car in advance rather than negotiating at the kerb.

Live departures & arrivals
Use the Departures / Arrivals toggle inside the board below to switch between them.
Live data provided by a third-party service; for authoritative status use the official AAI Raipur Airport page or your airline’s app. A quiet board mid-afternoon is normal — the schedule clusters morning and evening.
Comfort & cash
Lounges, ATMs & money
Lounges
- A lounge in the new terminal, typically accessed via credit-card programmes or pay-per-use.
- Given the airport’s business traffic, it’s usually a genuinely quiet place to work.
- Card access changed across India in late 2025 — many banks moved to direct partnerships with spend conditions. Confirm your card still qualifies.
ATMs & money
- ATMs are available landside; draw what you need before security.
- Forex is minimal — Raipur is a domestic airport in practice, so change money elsewhere.
- UPI works everywhere in Raipur city. Carry cash for rural Chhattisgarh, where connectivity and ATMs both thin out quickly.
Inside the terminal
Shopping, food & restrooms
Shopping
Retail outlets and convenience shopping, including some Chhattisgarh handicrafts — Bastar’s dhokra metalwork and wrought-iron pieces are the distinctive local buy, though prices are better in the city.
Food
A food court and quick-service counters covering Indian and standard airport fare. Budget ₹150–400 for something light. Pre-security options are cheaper than airside.
Restrooms & essentials
Clean and well-signed with accessible facilities, prayer rooms and designated smoking areas. Free Wi-Fi requires no registration — connect to the airport network and sign in.
Extra help
Assistance & accessibility
Wheelchairs & reduced mobility
Free wheelchair assistance is a regulatory requirement at Indian airports. Request it when booking, at least 48 hours ahead, and confirm at check-in. The 2012 terminal is step-free with aerobridges, so it’s an easy airport to move through.
Business travellers
Much of RPR’s traffic is industrial and government. The lounge, decent Wi-Fi and short security queues make it one of the more workable regional airports for a same-day return.
Families
Baby-care facilities are available and families with infants are usually called for priority boarding. Onward drives in Chhattisgarh are long — plan those legs as part of the journey.
Getting to & from
Ground transportation
The airport is at Mana, about 15 km south of Raipur city on the Raipur–Dhamtari road, and roughly 10 km from Nava Raipur. Reckon on 25–40 minutes into the city.
Taxi & ride-hailing
- Prepaid taxi counter in arrivals — regulated fares, no negotiation.
- Ola and Uber both operate; a city cab typically runs around ₹300–500.
- Auto-rickshaws wait outside the airport gates for shorter or budget trips.
Bus & rail
- NRTL city buses, both AC and non-AC, connect the airport with Raipur Junction railway station and points across Nava Raipur.
- Raipur Junction is roughly 15–18 km away and is a major rail hub on the Howrah–Mumbai line.
- Bus is by far the cheapest way in, and unusually good for a regional Indian airport.
Onward in Chhattisgarh
- Nava Raipur ~10 km · Bhilai ~40 km · Bilaspur ~120 km, ~2.5 hrs.
- Jagdalpur and Bastar ~300 km, 6–7 hours by road on NH-30 — a long day, so consider the UDAN flight if one is operating.
- Sirpur ~80 km · Barnawapara sanctuary ~100 km · Mainpat ~350 km.

When things go wrong
Lost & found and airline help
Lost something at the airport?
- Raipur Airport is run by the Airports Authority of India. Report losses at the airport information desk or to the AAI duty manager.
- Left something on the plane? That’s the airline’s responsibility — go to their counter before you leave the building.
- Missing checked baggage: file a Property Irregularity Report at the airline’s baggage desk in arrivals before exiting.
- Carry a photo of your bag and its tag number.
Airline customer service
Use only the contact details on airlines’ official websites — fake “customer care numbers” planted in search results are a common scam in India:
- IndiGo — goindigo.in → Contact Us (24/7 in-app chat)
- Air India — airindia.com → Contact Us
- Air India Express — airindiaexpress.com → Support
- SpiceJet — spicejet.com → Contact Us
- Akasa Air — akasaair.com → Support
India’s aviation grievance portal, AirSewa, handles complaints that airlines don’t resolve — including baggage, refunds and denied boarding.
Health & emergencies
Hospitals near the airport
At the airport
The terminal has a medical room and ambulance access — ask any airport staff member or CISF officer. India’s all-in-one emergency number is 112; ambulances can also be called on 102 or 108.
Major hospitals
- AIIMS Raipur — the region’s leading public tertiary hospital, in Tatibandh.
- Ramkrishna Care Hospital — large private multi-speciality.
- Balaji Hospital and Shri Narayana Hospital — private options in the city.
- Raipur is the medical centre for all of Chhattisgarh, so serious cases from across the state come here.
If you’re travelling into rural Chhattisgarh or Bastar, note that you may be several hours from a major hospital. Private hospitals generally expect payment upfront or a direct insurance tie-up.
Stocking up
Groceries & essentials nearby
Physical stores
- Little immediately around Mana — the airport sits outside the built-up area.
- Magneto The Mall and the VIP Road corridor have supermarkets, pharmacies and everything else, ~20–25 minutes away.
- Pandri and Sadar Bazaar are the traditional markets in the old city.
The Indian shortcut: delivery apps
Quick-commerce apps — Blinkit, Zepto and Swiggy Instamart — operate in Raipur and deliver groceries, toiletries and medicine to your hotel in 10–30 minutes. Coverage drops off outside the city, so stock up before heading into the districts.
Off-airport dining
Restaurants near the airport & in the city
Everything below is outside the terminal — for food inside the airport, see the shopping & food section above.
Near the airport
Thin on the ground at Mana — a few highway options on the Dhamtari road. Nava Raipur’s hotels are the nearest proper dining.
In the city
VIP Road and Telibandha hold most of Raipur’s restaurants, cafés and hotel dining, along with the malls. Marine Drive by the lake is the evening spot.
Eat Chhattisgarhi
Worth seeking out and rarely found elsewhere: chila and fara made from rice flour, aamat from Bastar, bafauri, and dubki kadhi. Street food clusters around Sadar Bazaar and Gol Bazaar.
